The Challenge: Find a Company to Trust With Critical Equipment

Wilson’s Chemical Solutions, based in Indiana, has been hauling Class 8 corrosive liquids throughout the Midwest for more than 35 years.

“The majority of our work is in the Great Lakes region, but we go to the East Coast on occasion and as far west as Kansas,” said Brad Ulyat, Wilson’s president.

The company has a fleet of 36 tanker trailers that carry corrosive liquids including sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and caustic soda.

“It’s some pretty serious stuff,” Ulyat said, adding that it’s critical to their operations that the fleet is reliably maintained, up to date on all annual inspections and that any issues are handled quickly and efficiently.

Wilson’s has worked with what is now CTTECH for two decades.

“They do all our annual inspections and anything pertaining to the workings of the barrel – from the valves and piping to the tank itself and everything in between,” Ulyat said. “We have an inside team that handles routine maintenance, brakes and tires and stuff, but everything related to the trailer is [CTTECH].”

Given the volatility of the chemicals the trailers carry, Ulyat said they wouldn’t trust just anyone to handle the fleet.

“I trust them with a whole lot of liability and they realize what we do,” he said. “They are very careful and thorough with our equipment. They’ve always been really good to work with and they get our stuff in and out as fast as possible. They’ve made us a priority at times when we’ve really needed it.”
